Website

Please visit my website http://www.cs.trinity.edu/~dibarra/

I used Kompozer to do my website. At first I had no idea what to do what topic to choose and how to make it a good website. I chose my topic "Honduras" so the class could know a little bit more of it and the cities which attract for tourism. Making the site was easier than I thought but designing it was harder. I had trouble getting the images and finding the best ones that reflected the beauty of each of the cities I chose. After that the difficult part was putting everything together and the design part but with a little patience I could finally finish it. I really hope you enjoy my website and get to know a little more of Honduras because I am very proud of my "Islas de la Bahia" section. If I would change anything would be the title size of the pages because I dont know why they didn't change when I changed them with the program.
I can now show everyone I know how websites are done and how I created and published my very on website!

Larry Hechler blog

Last class Larry Hechler from ITS came and talked to us about a lot of things we should know about computers. I did not know that Dell was the only brand of computers that covered for everything if you have the Dell complete cure plan. I also learned that if you have to let the battery drain from your computer before charging it because it will get used to working only for a few minutes. I also learned that you have to have a back up of your files. He told us awful stories of how students have lost very important papers and I really do not want that to happened to me. We also got to see whats inside a laptop and inside a CPU. I had already seen what is inside of a CPU but it was my first time seeing what was inside a laptop. It was a great experience for me and now I even know what the proper way to clean my computer is!

Photos that lie

I chose this picture because I wanted to edit one of my friends pictures. This picture was taken by Ricardo Rivera, a Honduran photographer. First I lowered the brightness of the photo and added more contrast to the picture. After that I changed the hue and saturation moving them up and down until I got the color I wanted. Then, I changed the color of her skin tone giving her a more tan skin color. Using the paint brush tool I painted over her earring making it disappear and then chose a picture of a diamond earring from Google and using the magneto lasso tool I moved it to where her previous earring was. Later, I used the smart brush tool and chose the lime time tool to make eyes green. In the arrangements  panel I was able to change the shade of green and make it to a more credible green color. With all these touch ups I was happy with my new edited picture of my friend. The manipulation is harmful because I am portraying to other people a wrong image of my friend. This picture relates to my article because my article talks about how manipulating photos gives a wrong image of something.

The article I read was called "Whats in a picture" and was about manipulating images, what they are and their effects. There was a quote in the article that really caught my attention. This was the answer to why is it wrong to manipulate an image: "If you misrepresent your data, you are deceiving your colleagues, who expect and assume basic honesty—that is, that
each image you present is an accurate representation of what you actually observed." This really interested me because this is the reason why every woman believes what they see on magazines because we are used to taking a picture and just uploading to our computer not making changes to ourselves. This is why magazines have everyone fooled because people are expecting to see how their favorite actor or actress looks and what can they do to look like her.

Now a lot of companies are doing campaigns to show the world how this images are altered and why we should believe everything we see on the magazines or internet.

Special Education Powerpoint

My power point presentation was about Special Education. I decided to use this topic because I am planning on majoring in Psychology or Education so this was a way of combing both of them. I used a great choice of slide theme that I really liked and pictures that showed what special education really is. I learned how to insert a youtube video on to my presentation. The two powerpoint presentations I liked the best were the Event Planning and the Underwater Photography. I used to plan a lot of events during my senior year in high school and when I saw her presentation I remember all those times and she showed I professional way of doing it. She also had good slides, pictures, and explained well her topic. I liked the Underwater Photography presentation because I did not even know you could do that! I was amazed of what fashion magazines can do. Her presentation showed great pictures of it and she really had my attention for the whole time she was explaining. I love to take pictures and underwater photography is really a challenge for any kind of photographer even the best ones.

Chris Nolan

Chris Nolan, the Assistant Librarian, came to talk to us about researching on the internet. He taught us different techniques. For example how to search only for .gov or .org websites and leave out the .com. I will certainly put into practice what I learned from his presentation.
